About Terra Innovatum

Terra Innovatum is commercializing SOLO™, a 1 MWe micro-modular reactor built around proven, commercially available components and low-enriched uranium (LEU) fuel. We are advancing U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) licensing toward first deployment. Standing up the people, procedures, and training that will operate SOLO safely is now on the critical path. This is a foundational hire in the SOLO Operating Organization.

The Role

We are hiring a Nuclear Operations & Training Specialist to help build SOLO's operations, training, and procedure foundation from the ground up. You will develop training materials and qualification programs, write operating and maintenance procedures, and support the path to licensing SOLO's operators. You will work closely with the licensing and engineering teams to turn a first-of-a-kind design into a plant that people can operate safely and reliably.

This role is hands-on and builder-oriented. Much of the early work is creating things that do not exist yet: procedures, lesson plans, qualification cards, and training methods suited to a plant that is still being built. We are looking for someone with strong nuclear fundamentals, instructor instincts, and the discipline to produce clear, accurate, regulation-ready documentation. There is real room to grow with the organization as it scales.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and maintain training materials, lesson plans, qualification cards, and evaluations using a systematic approach to training (SAT) and sound adult-learning methods.

  • Write and refine operating, maintenance, and administrative procedures as the SOLO design matures.

  • Support the operator training and qualification effort, including methods suited to a not-yet-constructed plant (discussion, simulation, tabletop, mockup, and on-the-job training).

  • Deliver classroom, simulator, and field/on-the-job training; coach and evaluate trainees.

  • Support the path to NRC operator licensing in coordination with the licensing team.

  • Bring operations and maintenance fundamentals to readiness planning, startup preparation, and procedure validation.

  • Collaborate with engineering, licensing, and operations to keep training and procedures technically accurate and operationally relevant.

  • Help establish the training records, governance, and qualification processes a new operating organization needs.

  • Promote strong human-performance fundamentals and a healthy nuclear safety culture from day one.

  • Support on-site and local engagements with the site owner, community and constructor.

What You Bring

  • Commercial nuclear operations/maintenance experience, Navy nuclear experience, or equivalent hands-on nuclear background.

  • 5+ years in nuclear operations, maintenance, or technical training environments.

  • Demonstrated experience developing and/or delivering technical training (instructor or training-development background).

  • Proven ability to write clear technical & operating procedures, or instructional materials.

  • Strong communication skills and the discipline for procedural compliance and documentation accuracy.

  • Comfort building programs from scratch in a fast-moving, first-of-a-kind environment.

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field required; however, equivalent military/industry experience will be considered.

  • Maintenance planning, Computerized Maintenance Management System, or operational-readiness experience at an industrial or generating facility.

  • Comfort using modern AI tools to accelerate procedure and lesson-plan drafting, with careful human verification of all safety-related content.

Why This Role Matters

SOLO cannot operate without trained, qualified people and the procedures that guide them. None of that exists yet. You will help build it, alongside the Licensing and Engineering organizations, as one of the first members of the operating organization. The work you produce becomes the backbone of how SOLO is run, and the role offers a clear path to grow as the organization takes shape.

 We Offer

  • Competitive base salary, and benefits.

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision; 401(k); paid time off.

  • Foundational ownership, short decision cycles, and direct impact on a first-of-a-kind reactor program, with room to grow.
